Beyond a bowl of breakfast, high protein Greek yogurt works in so many dishes. Here are my favorite recipes featuring this power ingredient.
From creamy sauces and marinades to moist baked goods, adding Greek yogurt boosts protein, adds tangy flavor and keeps dishes rich and satisfying. I love a neutral-flavored, thick and slightly tangy Greek yogurt with protein!

Why Greek Yogurt Is An Easy High Protein Ingredient?
I'm honestly a touch obsessed with adding Greek yogurt to recipes. It's the easiest way for me as a mom in my 40s, Eating For Perimenopause to boost my meals (and my children's at the same time) with good quality protein.
Greek yogurt, from a technical perspective, is strained which is why it's particularly high in protein. As an ingredient, it's also super versatile. I can add it to smoothies, dips, breakfasts, baked recipes, sauces and so on. As a chef, I love that Greek yogurt carries loads of different flavors.
Greek yogurts like the ones from The Gourmet Greek, brimming with high levels of protein and without fillers and thickeners, are the brands I reach for.
How To Add More Protein To Yogurt
When I was a student at IIN, studying hormone health, I got loads of tips on how to add protein boosters to recipes. A couple that I'll often add to Greek yogurt with protein to make it even more protein rich include:
- Protein powder: I blend it into smoothies and bake it into muffins and cakes.
- Chia seeds: This little seeds are the perfect partner to Greek yogurt, thinned back with some milk
- Nuts and nut butter: Peanuts, cashews, almonds, pistachios and pecans are my favorites.
- Hemp seeds: I add these into smoothies and baked recipes.
- Cottage cheese: If you love cream cheese and Greek yogurt, you'll love cottage cheese. Weekly, I'll blend cottage cheese and Greek yogurt with herbs, spices and fresh garlic for a yummy dip.
There are loads of ways to boost Greek yogurt with protein but I find using these ingredients is the most efficient way.

Tips From A Chef For Adding Greek Yogurt to Recipes
Here's what I've experiences as a Cordon Bleu chef when it comes to working with Greek yogurt:
- Use high protein Greek yogurt as a swap: Replace sour cream, mayo or fresh cream in recipes with Greek yogurt. Start with a 1:1 ratio and add more as you go.
- Temper Greek yogurt before adding it to hot dishes: Add a little hot liquid to your yogurt, whisk and then stir the yogurt into the hot liquid. This will prevent curdling.
- Use it in marinades: Greek yogurt will tenderize your meat AND make it more protein rich.
- Include it in your dessert and baked recipes: Swap some of the butter, oil or buttermilk in your baking recipes for high protein Greek yogurt. Not only will it make them richer and more moist, it will give your recipe a tender crumb.
